Biography
Fyodor L. Zak was born in Moscow in 1949, graduated from the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Moscow State University in 1971. He was awarded Ph.D. in 1975 for the thesis entitled "q-finite morphisms and modifications of algebraic spaces" and D.Sc. in 1987 for the dissertation "Tangents and secants of algebraic varieties".
Professor Zak's principal contributions belong to mathematical economics (theory of economic equilibrium) and algebraic geometry. F.L. Zak works in CEMI since 1974; he is a head research fellow since 1990.
